Only One Testnet Goerli Left
After the Sepolia testnet upgrade and stable operation, Goerli will also be upgraded to become the largest and final public testnet before the Shanghai upgrade, Ethereum core developer Barnabas Busa told CoinDesk. The main difference among the three testnets lies in the number of participants and network load.
According to an official announcement from Ethereum, the previously reported Zhejiang testnet was launched on 2/7, and the Shanghai+Capella, also known as Shapella, mainnet upgrade is in its final preparation stage, scheduled for March. Shapella will introduce the staking unlocking feature for Ethereum users, allowing validators to withdraw their full stake and validators with balances over 32 ETH to partially withdraw.
Overall, Ethereum core developers are gradually shifting their focus to the February Sepolia testnet and the March Goerli testnet. Once both are running smoothly, Ethereum will officially welcome the Shanghai hard fork upgrade.
