Voice enters beta testing, while Steemit announces migration to the Tron blockchain.

The blockchain-based social media platform Steemit has established a strategic partnership with the TRON Foundation. Both parties have begun planning to migrate Steemit and other DApps based on the Steem blockchain to the TRON blockchain.

TRON Expands Its Territory Once Again

Steemit is a decentralized social content platform based on the Steem blockchain, with reportedly over 1 million users. All user interactions on Steemit, such as commenting, posting, and upvoting articles, can earn token rewards. The rewards for posting articles vary depending on the user's influence on Steemit; the higher the influence, the higher the probability of receiving greater rewards. Since the founder of Steemit is the same person as the creator of EOS, Dan Larimer, the public often associates EOS and Steemit together, but this situation may now change.

According to an official press release from the TRON Foundation yesterday, TRON Foundation and Steemit have officially become strategic partners. Both parties will immediately begin collaborating to migrate Steemit and other DApps based on the Steem blockchain to the TRON blockchain. If every DApp on the Steem blockchain is migrated to the TRON blockchain, the number of DApps in the TRON ecosystem will increase from 700 to 800, and the number of users will increase by millions. It is currently unclear if the Steem blockchain will continue to exist in its current form.

It is worth noting that although the official press release claims this as a strategic partnership, considering Steemit laid off 70% of its staff in 2018, the possibility of an investment relationship between the two parties is higher.

TRON's key figure, Justin Sun, will certainly not miss this marketing opportunity. An AMA event will be held at 1:00 AM on February 16 (Taiwan time), where the future development of both parties will be explained, and a Steem token airdrop event will be held to attract users to participate.

Other Investment Cases of TRON

TRON is jokingly referred to by industry insiders as the "worst coin, best company," as it has successfully grown its brand and ecosystem through acquisitions and investments in other prominent projects. Some of the more famous investment cases include the acquisition of BitTorrent in 2018, and the acquisition of DLive and investment in the Poloniex exchange in 2019.

Rise of Potential Competitors

On the other hand, Voice, a decentralized community platform similar to Steemit, has started beta testing today on the private chain EOSIO of EOS. Voice is currently operated by an independent new company and has received a $150 million investment from the core development team of EOS, Block.one (with $30 million used to purchase the domain name Voice.com). Although initially announced to run on the EOS public chain, whether this will be possible remains unknown due to technical and regulatory issues.
