Sutskever Experienced Division, Ultimately Resigned
In November last year, the board at that time decided to resign Sam Altman, including Ilya Sutskever, due to what they perceived as opaque communication:
- Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo
- Tasha McCauley, co-founder of Fellow Robotics and scientist at RAND Corporation, who is also the wife of renowned actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt
- Ilya Sutskever, co-founder and Chief Scientist of OpenAI, expressed regret for the split decision of OpenAI on 11/20
- Helen Toner, Director of Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies at Georgetown University
However, ultimately, due to OpenAI employees threatening to collectively resign, Sam Altman returned and restructured the board. It seems that Ilya Sutskever was still unable to stay at OpenAI and chose to resign.
