Tether and Bitfinex join forces to create the crypto application platform Holepunch and launch the free communication app Keet.
The issuer of USDT, Tether, has collaborated with the exchange Bifinex and the cryptocurrency distributed system developer Hypercore to launch a fully encrypted platform called "Holepunch" for building peer-to-peer applications. The first application on this platform is a free audiovisual communication app called "Keet," which operates similarly to Google Meet but with a focus on decentralization and privacy.

Holepunch Platform Introduction
According to an announcement by Tether, the purpose of Holepunch, created by three industry giants, is to unlock global communication, empower freedom of speech and information control, and resist censorship systems around the world. By giving users control over their own data and communication channels, it aims to break free from the monopoly of Web2 technology.
"Web2 demands that users give up control of their data, leading to the rise of monopolies and increasingly serious privacy issues. That's why Tether and Bitfinex chose to participate in the development of Holepunch and Keet," said Holepunch Chief Strategy Officer Paolo Ardoino.
Holepunch will not utilize any blockchain technology, but its built-in payment API will operate through the Lightning Network, and USDT will also support the platform's micropayment system. Holepunch is currently in the testing phase and is expected to open-source its code in the fourth quarter of this year.

Keet is the first application on Holepunch, functioning similarly to popular conferencing software like Zoom or Google Meet.
However, Keet achieves real-time video and audio communication through peer-to-peer connections, allowing direct communication with other users' computers without server storage, to eliminate the risks of central system failures and over-reliance on third-party platforms.

Keet is currently in the testing phase and can only be used on computers, with plans to release a mobile version in the future.
