Ethereum Name Service (ENS) launches new version! Improved user experience, enhanced functionality for subdomains

The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) announced last week that it will be releasing a new version of its application. The new version not only offers a better user experience compared to the old version but also supports the domain name wrapper functionality. The new version is currently available for testing on the Goerli test network, and the official team is offering a bug bounty of 10 ETH.

Note: According to the official documentation, domain name wrapping is an upgrade feature that allows old domains to utilize more modern functionalities, such as revoking authorizations and supporting ERC1155 NFTs. By default, all newly registered domains will be wrapped.

Brand New ENS Application with Significantly Enhanced User Experience

After personally using it, I believe that the new version of ENS has eliminated many of the drawbacks of the old version in terms of usability.

When users search for a domain name, the new version will directly show whether the domain name has been registered below, saving time from searching one by one. The registration process after choosing a desired domain name has also been improved.

During registration, users first need to select the registration duration, with longer years saving more Gas fees. Payment can be made using ETH, credit card, or debit card below.

After selection, users will enter the personal information setting page, where they can add relevant information to the ENS domain name, such as website, social media links, personal introduction, and addresses of other encrypted assets.

Next, users will proceed to the purchase stage, click Begin, wait for a while, and confirm in the wallet to complete all steps.

Subdomain Function Settings

In addition to registration-related functions, the new version's domain setting page has separated the subdomain function. By clicking on "+ New subname," users can add subdomains according to their needs.

Click Next and confirm in the wallet to complete the addition.

Furthermore, in the Permissions section of the settings, users can quickly adjust the permissions of subdomains in various functions to help effectively manage each domain.

Bug Bounty Program

If any issues are found while using the new ENS version, users can click on the Feedback on the right side of the main page to report problems to the official team. Currently, the official team is offering a bug bounty of 10ETH, and this activity will only run until 3/9.
