Cross-chain bridge becomes a dead city? Multichain: CEO cannot be reached, requests partners to halt operations

There was a frenzy in the community about the Multichain cross-chain bridge team being arrested and the cold wallets being hijacked. Although the team came out to clarify that most of the Multichain bridges were operating normally, the exchange Binance decisively suspended the following cross-chain token networks on 5/25. (Review of the Multichain incident) Today (6/1), Multichain brings puzzling news.

Multichain: CEO Unreachable

Multichain stated:

Over the past two days, the Multichain protocol has encountered multiple issues due to unforeseen circumstances. The team has made every effort to ensure the protocol's operation, but we are currently unable to reach CEO Zhaojun or obtain the server access rights required for maintenance.

This afternoon, there were network issues with scan node network of Router 5, affecting the normal cross-chain services of some chains. Furthermore, this issue is beyond the current authority and capability of the team. In order to protect the interests of our users, we have decided to temporarily suspend the corresponding cross-chain services of the affected chains on the user interface. Last week, a similar issue also occurred on Router 2.

We appreciate users' understanding and request our partners to refrain from directly conducting cross-chain operations on Multichain protocol smart contracts on the affected chains.

The affected chains include:

Kekchain, PublicMint, Dyno Chain, Red Light Chain, Dexit, Ekta, HPB, ONUS, Omax, Findora, Planq.

In 2020, OKEx, now rebranded as OKX, experienced a suspension of withdrawals due to a key management personnel being investigated by the public security. Whether the CEO of Multichain is encountering a similar event remains unclear.

As the cross-chain bridge function of Multichain on most major public chains is operating normally, the affected chains are mostly obscure blockchains. One possible reason could be activities on these chains being investigated.
