Quantitative trading firm Alameda, exchange FTX, and decentralized exchange Serum co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried tweeted at 11 pm on the 20th, stating that FTX has grown rapidly from obscurity to become one of the industry leaders. Despite still being imperfect, they continue to optimize user experience and actively expand into larger markets. It was also announced today that FTX US has hired former cryptocurrency head of the popular online brokerage Robinhood, Sina Nader, as its COO.

However, for followers of FTX and Serum, the more important announcement should be:

"We are excited to announce that for the remainder of 2020, FTX will be completely eliminating trading fees. All FTX futures and spot markets are now free; market makers can even get rebates!" According to them, this measure will take effect the next day.

Another announcement is regarding Serum:

"Note: We are very excited about the progress of the SRM IEO; more to come!"

Sam seems to have high expectations for Serum's foray into decentralized trading. Haseeb Qureshi, managing partner at the well-known crypto investment firm Dragonfly, released an article explaining the current challenges facing the largest decentralized exchange Uniswap. Sam quickly responded:

"Most of these can be solved with an order book. That's one reason Serum is using an order book. Full on-chain order book, quoting, and matching engine."
