Ethereum Name Service (ENS) new version launched! Old domains can be upgraded to support new features

The developer of Ethereum Name Service (ENS), @taytemss, announced on Twitter that the new version of the ENS application has been launched on the mainnet, allowing users to start using the name wrapper feature. The new version of ENS not only significantly improves user experience but also enhances the functionality of subdomains.

The New Version of ENS is Live! Old Domains Can Be Upgraded

According to the official explanation, domain packaging is an upgrade feature that allows old domains to use more modern functionalities, such as revoking authorizations and supporting ERC1155 NFTs. By default, all newly registered domains will be packaged.

With the new version going live, users who have previously registered domains will see an upgrade button on their domain page, which will initiate the domain upgrade process upon clicking.

This process consists of two steps. First, the existing account data needs to be transferred to the new resolver, followed by the domain packaging process. Simply follow the platform's instructions to easily complete the process, although it will incur a certain amount of Gas fees.

As for the differences in functionality of the new version of ENS, a detailed introduction has been provided in a previous article. Please refer to: Ethereum Name Service ENS Launches New Version! Improved User Experience and Enhanced Subdomain Functionality.
