Binance Smart Chain L2 opBNB Testnet Launched Today, Unlocking Expansion Possibilities for BSC

The second-layer solution of Binance Chain BNB Chain - opBNB Testnet officially launched on June 19, 2023. Binance Chain encourages validators of the testnet and dApp developers to participate in the testing and provide valuable feedback.

What is opBNB? A Layer 2 Solution Based on Optimism

opBNB is a scalability solution for BSC BNB Smart Chain aimed at overcoming the limitations of blockchain technology. It is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing existing Ethereum smart contracts to be easily migrated. opBNB is also a Layer 2 solution based on the Optimism OP Stack, enhancing the scalability of BSC while maintaining its throughput and security. Note: Optimistic Rollups is an L2 scaling solution that reduces the computational burden on the mainnet by executing transactions off-chain and only posting transaction data on-chain (calldata). It is a method of bundling multiple transactions and submitting them to the mainnet.

Similar to other Optimistic Rollups solutions, opBNB utilizes fraud proofs to verify the network's validity.

opBNB Achieves Over 4000 TPS Transactions

Binance Chain states that opBNB combines the features of BSC, offering easier data access, improved caching systems, and algorithm adjustments in the transaction submission process, enabling batch processing. With a gas limit of up to 100 million, compared to Optimism's 30 million, opBNB breaks new ground. This allows opBNB to process over 4000 transfer transactions per second and maintain an average transaction cost of below $0.005.

Binance Chain is Calling Developers and Startups to Test opBNB

Binance Chain states that opBNB has the potential to drive growth across various applications, from gaming dApps to social networks, providing them with an efficient and cost-effective blockchain environment. opBNB is inviting developers and startups to participate in testing its testnet to explore its potential.
