From news aggregators to on-chain analytics tools, a list of the top ten cryptocurrency research tools

A bear market is a good time for learning and accumulating knowledge. Cryptocurrency investor The DeFi Edge has compiled 10 crypto research tools worth delving into on personal social media platforms.

1. Uniwhale (Analysis Panel)

I use it to track cross-chain activities on different Layer 1 networks. Polygon has recently gained a lot of attention. With Uniwhale, I can view the network's deposits and withdrawals to have a more comprehensive understanding of the trends in Layer 1 networks.

2. Dune Analytics (Analysis Panel)

Dune allows users to visualize different metrics into easy-to-understand charts, showcasing everything from DeFi use cases to specific DApp content through the analysis panel. I invested in GMX and found an analysis panel to help me track important metrics.

3. Crypto Panic (News Aggregator)

Official Website Link: https://cryptopanic.com/

This is where I get most of my crypto news besides Twitter. You can think of it as the crypto news on Reddit. There may be a lot of news, so I sort by "importance" to filter out the noise in the information.

4. Santiment (Crypto Intelligence Hub)

Official Website Link: https://app.santiment.net/

Santiment caters to most people's market-watching needs. Sanbase allows you to combine price with other factors, showing you many indicators like price, development progress, social media trends, and more.

5. Nansen (On-Chain Analytics Tool)

Official Website Link: https://pro.nansen.ai/

Nansen's best feature is "Smart Money," which tracks the smart moves of big funds and early adopters. Use it to see what Smart Money is buying and get in before YouTube bloggers start making videos.

6. Messari (Market Information Hub)

Official Website Link: https://messari.io/

Messari is considered the Swiss Army knife of crypto research tools, providing charts, price data, research reports, community monitoring, and more for just $25 per month.

7. Token Terminal (Crypto Financial Database)

Official Website Link: https://tokenterminal.com/

People are tired of inflationary tokens and paper money; they want to see where real revenue is generated. Token Terminal can show which blockchains and DApps are earning money.

8. Fear & Greed Index (Sentiment Dashboard)

Information you come across on Twitter may mislead you. If you follow a group of bullish influencers, they are always optimistic regardless of the situation. So, I check the Fear & Greed Index to better understand the market's true sentiment.

9. DeFiLlama (DeFi Analysis Tool)

Official Website Link: https://defillama.com/

I pay close attention to various Alt Layer 1 networks. DeFiLlama helps me compare them based on the Total Value Locked (TVL) indicator. For me, the greatest utility of DeFiLlama is helping me discover hidden gem projects within each ecosystem.

I am a fan of AVAX but haven't kept up with its ecosystem's development pace. I want to find a project that meets the following two criteria:

  1. TVL is at least over $1 million;
  2. High 7-day growth rate can be observed weekly (indicating some attractiveness).

DeFiLlama tells me EverRise meets these criteria, so I will add it to my research list. (The above does not constitute any investment advice.)

10. DexScreener (Real-Time Price Charts)

Official Website Link: https://dexscreener.com/

I use it to set up a watchlist for my personal investment portfolio and create price alerts. Imagine being able to see real-time buying and selling behavior when a major event occurs, a KOL promotes a project, or a vulnerability is discovered.

Additionally, I also use Glassnode, Trading View, Coingecko, IntotheBlock, and other tools. The ones listed above are the "must-haves" in my daily research process. Tools are secondary; what's important is to build your own research process, and these tools will help you develop your own investment and trading style.
