"Celebrity meme coins, go!" Cryptocurrency community's reactions to celebrity meme coins vary greatly
Is meme coin a sign of "being too advanced for you to keep up" or "the dumbing down of the cryptocurrency market"? Recently, we wrote an opinion piece titled "The Evolution of Idiots | Meme Coins Have Become Mainstream, Overtaking NFTs as the Gateway for the Masses". @ColdBloodShill: Just Like Celebrity NFTs
ColdBloodShill is dissatisfied with the recent trend of celebrities issuing meme coins. He believes that this behavior is exploitative, with celebrities simply using the popular term "meme coins" to quickly make money, much like the previous trends of "cryptocurrency" and "NFTs." He points out that when celebrities venture into the cryptocurrency field, they are usually unsuccessful, and most of these projects disappear quickly.
He suggests that if celebrities truly want to enter this field, they should start like everyone else by buying cryptocurrency, exploring the field, joining communities, and learning, rather than launching tokens right from the start. He emphasizes that if celebrities launch tokens from the beginning, regardless of what they say, they should not be trusted. He hopes to see those who are genuinely interested in cryptocurrency, rather than just celebrities looking to make a quick buck.
@blknoiz06: Celebrities Are Misled
blknoiz06 has a different opinion from ColdBloodShill. He believes that it is not fair to blame all celebrities who issue tokens. He points out that many celebrities are not the sole decision-makers and are often misled by teams, and these celebrities actually care about their fans.
He suggests that these celebrities should be made aware of the potential harm their actions could cause to their fans through dialogue, rather than being immediately pushed away. This approach can make it easier to find positive ways for them to engage and contribute to this field.
Former President Trump strongly endorsed cryptocurrency, leading to a surge in meme coins named after him; well-known media personality Caitlyn Jenner released the meme coin JENNER; and rapper Iggy Azalea also joined the circle by launching the meme coin MOTHER. These actions have fueled the meme coin craze, similar to the early days of the NFT craze when many celebrities made endorsements.
It is believed that in the near future, there may also be some Asian celebrities or KOLs issuing their own meme coins to catch up with this trend. Whether this is good or bad remains to be seen and will be proven over time.
