Coinbase Wallet has announced integration with mainstream messaging apps such as WhatsApp, iMessage, Telegram, and others, claiming to make cryptocurrency transfers as simple and fast as sending a text message. In reality, Coinbase Wallet has simply added a feature to share transfer links.

New Features of Coinbase Wallet

According to an official announcement, the update to Coinbase Wallet aims to address the pain points of cross-border wire transfers, allowing users to enjoy zero fees and instant settlement for USDC transfers by sharing the transfer URL link of Coinbase Wallet on the most commonly used communication software and social platforms.

If funds are not claimed within 2 weeks, they will be automatically refunded to the sender. The public chains that support free USDC transfers in the Coinbase Wallet include:

  • Base

  • Avax

  • Polygon

  • Arbitrum

  • Optimism

In reality, Coinbase Wallet has simply added a feature to share transfer links, which can be shared not only through communication software but also through social platforms like Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, and Email. When the other party clicks on the link, they will be prompted to download the Coinbase Wallet App.

Simplified Payment Experience and Integration with Various Fiat Currencies

Coinbase Wallet supports 20 languages and over 170 countries/regions, and allows fiat deposits in over 130 countries, including payment methods such as Pix in Brazil, Instant P2P Bank in Nigeria, and GCash in the Philippines.

To simplify the experience for beginners, Coinbase Wallet has also introduced an optional simple mode that focuses on basic functions such as buying, sending, receiving, and storing digital assets.

The announcement emphasizes the importance of the US Dollar stablecoin in countries with high inflation economies. However, around September, Coinbase had already excluded users in Taiwan from its main site.
