Using Binance AMA to hype the metaverse topic? Restore the original words of Zhao Changpeng's interview.
On 1/28, the Binance cryptocurrency exchange released an announcement reviewing the online interview with founder Zhao Changpeng and product manager Mayur Kamat two weeks ago on 1/14. In the interview, Zhao Changpeng answered questions related to the metaverse, which was interpreted by the media as "CZ calling for a metaverse," leading to speculation about the rise of concept coins.
However, did Zhao Changpeng really "call for a metaverse"? The reality may be very different from what is imagined.

Zhao Changpeng Interviewed: "Is There a Binance Metaverse Plan?"
On January 14th, during an interview discussing Binance's 2023 roadmap, a community member asked at the 36:44 mark, "Is there a plan to build a Binance metaverse? Will it be driven by BNB?"
In response, Zhao Changpeng chuckled and said, "If there were such a plan, it would definitely be driven by BNB. However, we are not game developers, and we don't have that kind of team yet." He believes that if they were to pursue this, it would currently be more focused on investment.
Zhao Changpeng further expressed that nobody truly knows what the metaverse is, as everyone has their own concept of it.
Product Manager Mayur Kamat provided a more practical perspective, stating that Binance offers infrastructure such as BNB Chain, Binance ID, and Trust Wallet as tools to make it easier for people to join the metaverse. He also believes that more teams will develop metaverse projects through Binance this year.
The entire interview did not include any content of "Zhao Changpeng endorsing the metaverse." On the contrary, Zhao Changpeng is well aware that the metaverse is a concept that has not been clearly defined, and Binance will approach it from the perspective of investors and tool providers.
If Zhao Changpeng's statements were to have an impact on the token price of a specific metaverse concept coin, there should have been a reaction on the day of the broadcast, which would be more reasonable.
Binance 2023 Roadmap
In reality, Binance's 2023 plan primarily focuses on safeguarding user trust and transparency, and aims to improve payment capability proofs through ZK technology. "Compliance" remains the top priority.
