With assets nearing $30 billion, ranking third on the Bloomberg Crypto Index, Zhao Changpeng: The numbers are way off.

Bloomberg compiled a list of 25 wealthy individuals from trading institutions, with Binance founder Zhao Changpeng ranking third. However, he quickly refuted the report on Twitter, stating that the data was grossly inaccurate and he did not have nearly as much money as claimed.

Bloomberg's New Finance Rich List

New Finance Rich List data is derived from Bloomberg's daily global billionaire rankings as of March 23 this year. The "New Finance Rich List" emphasizes newly emerging billionaires and excludes the following:

  • Those who were already in the top 300 billionaires globally by the end of 2013

  • Inheritance beneficiaries

  • Individuals over 70 years old

  • Retirees

The top five contenders include:

  1. $35 billion: Ken Griffin, 54, founder of hedge fund Citadel

  2. $33.1 billion: Jeff Yass, 67, founder of proprietary trading firm Susquehanna

  3. $28.2 billion: Changpeng Zhao, 46, founder of Binance

  4. $19.4 billion: Dan Gilbert, 61, founder of U.S. mortgage company Rocket

  5. $13 billion: Uday Kotak, 64, founder of financial services firm Kotak Mahindra Bank

CZ: Bloomberg's New Finance Rich List Numbers Completely Wrong

CZ pointed out:

The numbers are all wrong, I don't have that much wealth, not sure what they are doing with this list. Additionally, I have never considered FTX as a competitor, and we welcome more well-operated exchanges in the crypto space.

Bloomberg mentioned CZ in relation to the closure of competitor FTX, which led to increased scrutiny by regulatory bodies, including the CFTC's lawsuit against Binance.

Evidently, CZ is not entirely satisfied with Bloomberg's description.
