Coinbase One's Subscription Service Provides Stable Cash Flow
For Coinbase, subscription products offer predictable cash flow, as opposed to the volatile fee income from traders coming in and out of the crypto market.
According to Coinbase's Q1 financial report, its subscription and services revenue more than doubled in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year, reaching $360 million, accounting for 49% of its total revenue. This includes blockchain rewards, custody fees, interest income, and other subscription services.
The biggest contributor to other subscription and service revenue in the first quarter was Coinbase One. During the first quarter, the number of paying subscribers continued to grow, with revenue increasing by 13% from the previous quarter to $30 million. Coinbase also started offering Coinbase One to users in an additional 34 countries/regions, including Germany, the UK, and Ireland.

Coinbase has also partnered with research firm Messari, offering members exclusive access to Messari Pro for 90 days of insights and analysis in the crypto market.
Coinbase stated that more partners will join in the future, including perks such as discounted interest rates for Alto IRA deposit accounts, 20% off on crypto media Blockworks, free personal crypto investment portfolio analysis for 6 months with CoinTracker, and 10% off insurance with Lemonade, and more.
