It's graduation season, and many graduates are busy looking for jobs. If your expertise is in digital currency, you might have the opportunity to help design Canada's national digital currency. Additionally, there are over 4,000 blockchain job openings on LinkedIn suitable for graduates!

The Bank of Canada recently posted a job opening for a "Project Manager, CBDC" (Central Bank Digital Currency). While they give preference to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, it seems there are no restrictions for foreign nationals.

Get to Know Your Employer: What Does Canada Want?

The Bank of Canada has expressed its goal to create a central bank digital currency in the form of digital cash. To achieve this goal, there are five challenges to address. Firstly, privacy - although the Canadian CBDC is not aimed at anonymous cash, they still aim to balance privacy and financial regulation. Other challenges include adoption, offline payments, security, and finally, they hope to establish a sustainable business model for utilizing CBDC. (In fact, after reading China's CBDC whitepaper, don't you have about 80% of the answers?)

Your job as a project manager is crucial as it involves cross-department communication and goal setting. You must coordinate and communicate progress between the finance, policy, technology, and communication departments.

In terms of qualifications, they prefer candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Management, with at least five years of relevant experience in financial services or the tech industry. Possessing a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and experience in developing mass retail products from scratch will be advantageous.

Your future boss kindly suggests that before the interview, you should ask yourself these questions:

  • What are my main strengths?
  • What areas do I need to improve?
  • How can I add value?
  • Why am I interested in this career opportunity?

What about Salary and Benefits?

Based on your qualifications and experience, the annual salary ranges from CAD 83,900 to CAD 104,800 (approximately TWD 1.82 million to 2.28 million), with a performance bonus of 7-15%. The job is located in the capital of Canada, Ottawa, with a basic term of three years, extendable upon application.

The application deadline for this position is by 12:00 AM Eastern Time on June 28th.
