A spokesperson stated that the White House National Security Council is monitoring the situation and no specific malicious cyber activity has been identified at this time.

According to data from the outage tracking website DownDetector.com, during the peak of the outage, Facebook received over 550,000 outage reports, while Instagram received approximately 92,000 outage reports.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone made a statement on X:

Earlier today, a technical issue made it difficult for people to access some of our services. We resolved the issue for everyone affected as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

However, he did not provide detailed reasons for the outage.
