Galaxy Digital founder and internet celebrity GaryVee co-founded a new NFT company! It has been authorized by Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States.

After the successful marketing of NFT digital player cards on NBA Top Shot, it naturally led to businesses in various fields following suit. Digital collectibles company Candy Digital is now collaborating with Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States to release NFT collectibles.

Candy Digital

There has been a growing trend in NFT-related auctions and issuance platforms, and the founders behind Candy Digital are no strangers to the scene. They are:

  • Chairman of sports merchandise supplier Fanatics, Michael Rubin
  • CEO of cryptocurrency firm Galaxy Digital, Mike Novogratz
  • Renowned serial entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk

With the strong background of these three individuals in sports, cryptocurrency finance, and social media, as well as the early advantage of a long-term partnership with MLB, Candy Digital is poised to stand out in the competitive NFT space.

Inaugural Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig

The first NFT auction by Candy Digital is set to be released on 7/4, featuring Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig, with his farewell speech after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) on 7/4, 1939, as the background.

ALS, commonly known as "Lou Gehrig's disease," didn't deter Gehrig from stating in his speech, "I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth," despite the devastating news. This retirement speech is considered a classic moment by many fans.

MLB held Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day on 6/2 to raise awareness about ALS. Candy Digital seized the opportunity to announce the launch of MLB NFTs prior to this event, with proceeds supporting ALS charities.

Previously, a publisher collaborated with MLB to release a series of NFT player cards and is the largest MLB player card issuer globally, known as "Topps."

While the two will be primary competitors, Topps chose the WAX blockchain as its issuance platform, while Candy Digital opted for Ethereum. In comparison with Ethereum, WAX’s relative inactivity may pose a concern.
