The cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com announced on the 18th that it has partnered with the renowned NBA star LeBron James and his foundation, the LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF), to promote Web3 education in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, and create more opportunities for workforce development.

Crypto.com Partners with Lebron James

"Blockchain technology is fundamentally changing how we interact with our economy, sports, entertainment, art, and the way people engage with each other. I want to make sure communities like the one that raised me don't get left behind," stated Lebron James.

Through this collaboration, Crypto.com will financially support LJFF's "I PROMISE" initiative, providing families and students in the program with tools and resources needed to participate and build on Web3.

The I PROMISE program currently serves over 1,600 underserved students in the Akron area with adequate educational resources and ensures they graduate with the right mindset. With the partnership with Crypto.com, these students will not only learn about how cryptocurrencies operate and the underlying technology through the curriculum, but also understand how blockchain will impact their lives and potential future career paths.

"We are extremely proud to join LJFF in enhancing educational and workforce development opportunities that will enable the next generation to build a better and more inclusive future by providing tools and exposure," said Crypto.com Co-Founder Kris Marszalek.

Collaborating with the Star Player After Naming Rights

Crypto.com spent over $700 million last November to acquire the 20-year naming rights to the Staples Center, the home arena of the Los Angeles Lakers, reportedly the most expensive naming rights deal in sports history.

By partnering with Lakers' star player Lebron James, it raises curiosity whether the executives at Crypto.com are loyal Lakers fans. However, the news of this collaboration did not have a significant positive impact on the price of the CRO token, as it only increased by 4% on the day of the announcement.
