Artwork on the chain! Taiwan startup introduces art category "Blockchain certification resume"

Since its inception, although blockchain technology has not yet been widely adopted, due to its decentralized and tamper-proof nature, it continues to be applied in various industries worldwide. Taiwanese startup HOLIC is optimistic about future trends and is applying blockchain technology to the field of art collection, creating "blockchain resume certification."

The blockchain technology is continuously being applied in industries such as anti-counterfeiting and traceability. As reported by ABM earlier, the Shanghai Wine Blockchain Alliance has partnered with the public blockchain project VeChainThor as a means to combat illegal wine trading in China.

Renowned multinational companies worldwide are embracing blockchain technology, including Nestle collaborating with the blockchain platform OpenSC to optimize their supply chain system, Target, the second-largest retailer in the United States, working on a supply chain framework, and retail giant Walmart partnering with the pharmaceutical traceability blockchain alliance MediLedger.

Moreover, the London-based and globally renowned art auction house Christie's has also adopted blockchain technology to store sales data and encrypted information about the origins of each piece.

Taiwan is also not falling behind in this aspect. On August 23, the Taiwanese startup HOLIC collaborated with the Taipei Collectors Exchange to introduce blockchain authentication technology at the "2019 Contemporary Photography and Video Art Salon Exhibition," significantly enhancing the value of art collections.

The exhibition featured nearly a hundred contemporary photographers such as Liu Qunqun, Zhang Zhiming, Hu Kaihong, and Chen Shengwen, showcasing over 200 pieces of artwork. Information about the artists and their works displayed on-site was recorded on the blockchain and stored in unique authentication chips. By embedding the chip into the artwork, anyone can scan it using the HOLIC App to instantly view all the certified information about the artists, transaction records, and unique serial numbers.

HOLIC's anti-counterfeiting solution for collectibles involves using ERC721 contract codes to record product authenticity information confirmed by professional appraisers on the blockchain. During physical transfers, verification of product information and traceability can be done by scanning through the HOLIC App.

The team combines the blockchain's anti-counterfeiting and tamper-proof characteristics with IoT multi-level protection sensing chips to create a "blockchain certification resume," aiming to address longstanding issues in the art collection field such as counterfeiting, unclear provenance, and data falsification, providing assurance to future buyers of certified works through HOLIC.

HOLIC's certification technology digitally records all proofs on the blockchain, eliminating risks such as certificate loss or paper oxidation, which is a significant advantage for collectors. HOLIC CEO Jian Jiaofu stated:

The services we provide can add value to precious collections and rare high-value products, giving buyers peace of mind. Artistic products are just the first step, and in the future, it will also be applied in fields such as trends and boutiques, aiming to provide effective solutions to the long-standing authenticity issues in the market.

In addition to the exhibition, HOLIC also set up a dedicated area showcasing blockchain certification, allowing visitors to better understand how blockchain technology is applied to the exhibited works. Zhou Mingzhi, Executive Director of the Taipei Collectors Exchange, commented:

Artists from around the world have shown great enthusiasm for the new certification model for works, and they are very optimistic about the future development and value creation potential of blockchain certification. In the future, we will organize more art exhibitions with various blockchain certification applications.
