ChatGPT Free Version
As ChatGPT continues to evolve, free users can now access OpenAI's flagship GPT-4o model, respond with content-enhanced replies, access the GPT Store, and ask questions using uploaded documents and photos. Users can also save chat preferences as "Memories" and utilize advanced data analysis to analyze data from documents such as spreadsheets and PDFs.
Of course, there are limitations to the free version, such as the daily capacity limit of the GPT-4o model. Once users reach this limit, they will automatically switch to the less advanced GPT-3.5 model, albeit temporarily.
ChatGPT Plus
The paid version used by regular users, ChatGPT Plus, has a monthly subscription fee of $20.
ChatGPT Plus offers 5 times more capacity than ChatGPT Free and provides early access to updated tools, such as the OpenAI macOS client for ChatGPT.
In addition, ChatGPT Plus subscribers also gain access to upgraded data analysis features based on GPT-4o, allowing them to create interactive charts and tables based on datasets. Users can directly upload files for analysis from Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or their devices.
ChatGPT Team
Designed for small businesses or management teams, ChatGPT Team allows multiple ChatGPT licenses and collaboration features. The monthly cost per user is $30 for monthly billing or $25 for annual billing, with a maximum capacity of 149 users.
ChatGPT Team provides a dedicated workspace and management tools for team management. All users in the ChatGPT Team plan have access to the latest models from OpenAI and the aforementioned tools to analyze, edit documents, and extract information using ChatGPT. Additionally, ChatGPT Team allows team members to build and share custom applications based on OpenAI models, similar to the applications in the GPT Store. These applications can be customized for specific use cases or departments, or adjusted based on the team's data.
ChatGPT Enterprise
For enterprises with over 149 users, ChatGPT Enterprise is the choice. OpenAI has not disclosed the pricing for ChatGPT Enterprise, but reports suggest a cost of around $60 per user per month, with a minimum of 150 users and a 12-month contract.
ChatGPT Enterprise adds "enterprise-grade" privacy and data analysis features, enhanced performance, and customization options on top of regular ChatGPT. It includes a dedicated workspace and management console with tools for managing how employees within the organization use ChatGPT, including single sign-on, domain verification, and a dashboard integration displaying usage and engagement statistics.
Shared conversation templates provided as part of ChatGPT Enterprise allow users to create internal workflows and bots using ChatGPT, while the OpenAI API platform enables companies to create fully customized ChatGPT-driven solutions as needed.
Customers of ChatGPT Enterprise also receive priority access to OpenAI's expertise models and product line, including dedicated customer teams and training. They are eligible to enter into commercial agreements with OpenAI, a requirement under U.S. law for companies wishing to handle private health information such as medical records using tools like ChatGPT.
ChatGPT Edu
ChatGPT Edu is a version of ChatGPT specifically built for universities, students, faculty, researchers, and campus teams. Pricing is not disclosed.
Similar to ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu supports SCIM, an open protocol for simplifying cloud identity and access management, which OpenAI plans to introduce to ChatGPT Enterprise in the future. Like ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu customers have access to data analysis tools, management controls, single sign-on, enhanced security, and the ability to build and share custom chatbots.
OpenAI for Nonprofits
This offering from OpenAI provides solutions for nonprofits, offering discounts to eligible organizations.
Nonprofits can access ChatGPT Team at $20 per user per month. Larger nonprofits can receive a 50% discount on ChatGPT Enterprise, equivalent to around $30 per user.
However, the eligibility requirements are quite strict. While nonprofits from around the world can apply, OpenAI currently does not accept applications from academic, medical, religious, or governmental institutions.
