Dogecoin's creator celebrates 18th birthday! Kabosu statue unveiling ceremony to be held on November 2nd.
The original statue of Kabosu, the Shiba Inu that inspired Dogecoin, was initially planned to celebrate its 17th birthday in 2022, but was delayed partly due to events like the FTX collapse. Fortunately, the funds for the statue were successfully raised in the end and will be used to celebrate Kabosu's 18th birthday.

Doge Coin Icon Kabosu Statue Fundraising Hit by FTX Crash
The Dogecoin Foundation announced in November 2022 to raise funds for a bronze statue commemorating Kabosu's 17th birthday, to be placed at the Sakura Hometown Plaza in Sakura, Chiba, where Kabosu often took walks. Due to events like the FTX crash, the cryptocurrency raised for the Kabosu statue crowdfunding fell short of the required amount.
Kabosu Statue Minimum Fundraising Goal Achieved
The good news is that after nearly a year, the fundraising has exceeded the initial target, currently around $38,000, and the official website BronzeTheDoge.xyz indicates that fundraising is still ongoing, with the potential to enlarge the Kabosu statue if a specific amount is reached.
This initiative is led by the Dogecoin Foundation and Own The Doge, formed independently by holders after fragmenting DOGE NFT through PleasrDAO, and Atsuko Sato, Kabosu's owner, initiated the project. Their ultimate goal is to raise $1 million to place the Kabosu statue on the moon.
The official website claims that the addresses or ENS of the top 11 donors will be engraved on the Kabosu statue.
All donors contributing $11 or more will have their addresses listed and made into NFTs.
