Before heading to space, Branson tweeted that he was "excited and ready," with a photo featuring Musk.

Following Richard Branson's successful trip to the edge of space on his own spacecraft, news broke that Musk had also purchased a ticket on Virgin Galactic for himself. A Virgin Galactic spokesperson mentioned that they only know Musk has bought a ticket but do not know where he stands on the list or how long he will have to wait.

Each ticket for Virgin Galactic's space trip costs $250,000, and the company has collected a total deposit of $80 million.

Branson flew to the edge of space on Virgin Galactic's spacecraft last Sunday from New Mexico.

Bezos is expected to board his Blue Origin spacecraft for space travel on July 20. Blue Origin teased Branson last week, saying that Branson's spacecraft was just a high altitude airplane and did not pass the Kármán Line. The Kármán Line is located 62 miles above sea level and is recognized by many organizations as the boundary between outer space and Earth's atmosphere.

Virgin Galactic stated that their spacecraft can reach up to 50 miles above sea level, which is the boundary approved by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration.
