BNB Chain 2024 Outlook: One BNB Strategy Integrates BSC, opBNB, BNB Greenfield
BNB Chain releases its 2024 development roadmap, aiming to attract developers and enhance ecosystem vitality through the integration strategy of One BNB, in pursuit of the long-term vision of widespread user adoption. This year will see the integration and enhancement of Binance Smart Chain, BSC, Layer2 network opBNB, and decentralized storage network BNB Greenfield.

BNB Chain Long-Term Vision: Driving Mass Adoption Through the Supply Side
The vision of BNB Chain is clear - to drive mass adoption in various Web3 sectors, including DeFi, all-chain gaming, AI, DePIN, and DeSoc, by developing fast, efficient, scalable, developer-friendly, and secure multi-chain strategies.
BNB Chain 2024 Goal: One BNB
To achieve the above vision, the team's main goal for 2024 is to "integrate" existing resources, including various decentralized networks such as BSC, opBNB, BNB Greenfield, into a cohesive ecosystem to provide developers with complete services and interactive experiences. This initiative is called One BNB.
Key Issue: Fully On-Chain Dapps as the Future Trend
According to the team's assessment, the future of the Web3 industry will gradually move towards fully on-chain, FoC (fully on-chain) application architectures, such as all-chain games or services that do not rely on centralized infrastructure.
However, due to the diversity of the ecosystem and the immaturity of tool interoperability, developers will face a lack of comprehensive and integrated technical stacks, preventing their applications from transitioning to a robust, fully on-chain Web3 architecture.
Solution: Highly Integrated BNB Ecosystem Attracts Developers
To address the above issues, One BNB meets various needs of developers, including computing, storage, network security, and other requirements, making BNB Chain a competitive choice for Web3 developers.
For example, a full-chain gaming project can use BSC or opBNB to operate game logic, utilize Greenfield for data storage and updates; or a DePIN project can use BSC's network consensus for token issuance, opBNB for executing external hardware logic communication, and Greenfield for information storage.

BNB Chain Key Actions: Optimizing Existing Services to Meet Developer Needs
To ensure the achievement of the One BNB goal, it is necessary to enhance the attractiveness of existing products to developers. In addition to strengthening integration between BSC, opBNB, and Greenfield, the functionality of individual networks needs to be improved to meet developer needs.
The most basic needs of Web3 developers include decentralization, performance, security, and storage requirements.
Decentralization: Increasing BSC Network Validators
The total number of active BSC validators has increased from 21 to 40 in 2023, with the goal for this year being to expand the number of validators from 40 to 100 to decentralize and distribute power.
Performance: Increasing opBNB Block Size and Introducing EIP-4844
In 2024, the Gas Limit of the BSC network will be maintained at 140 million, focusing on strengthening state and storage mechanisms. The opBNB project aims to increase the Gas Limit from 100 million to 200 million, to achieve a target of 10,000 TPS, becoming the highest-capacity Layer2 solution.
Core developers: Adjusting block space size requires consideration of multiple factors, and Gas Limit is not a parameter that can be adjusted arbitrarily.
The opBNB upgrade will be carried out in two phases. The goal of opBNB is to achieve the first phase by 2024, establishing a secure framework with a supervisory mechanism. The long-term goal is to move to the second phase, towards a more autonomous and rigorously protected system design.
Additionally, opBNB plans to significantly reduce Gas fees by 5 to 10 times, specifically implementing EIP4844 on Greenfield and constructing a data availability layer DA.
For storage functionality, Greenfield aims to introduce advanced features to enhance the middleware infrastructure. This includes developing Greenfield Executable, Atomic Update, Paymaster AA, and improve other middleware infrastructure such as bundling transactions and data availability layers. The goal is to increase the performance of storage providers SP by five times, increase upload speeds from the current 2MB/s to 10MB/s, and increase download speeds from 20MB/s to 100MB/s.
Security: Phasing Out BNB Beacon Chain Gradually
On the other hand, the BNB Beacon Chain will be gradually phased out, and new governance, staking, and MEV PBS functionalities will be integrated into BSC. This strategy is known as Beacon Chain Fusion, aiming to simplify network complexity, improve efficiency, reduce security risks, and align the architecture of BNB Chain with future technological requirements.
Integration Will Be the Key Word for 2024
This article explains that the short-term product strategy of BNB Chain is to meet more developer needs through optimization and integration. The marketing strategy continues to participate in Web3 ecosystems through hackathons and lecture events to strengthen the brand and exposure of BNB Chain among developers, without further elaboration.
Behind One BNB is the logic of "chain abstraction" that serves developers. Developers do not need to spend effort and can easily integrate different infrastructure, making those who achieve high integration of the ecosystem in the mature 2024 Web3 chain tools have a competitive advantage in product capabilities.
What is chain abstraction? Enhancing user experience more comprehensively than account abstraction.
