Voyage to Greatness! The crypto cruise ship "Satoshi" is about to set sail, spending its remaining days in the Bay of Panama with Bitcoin.

A cruise ship named after Satoshi Nakamoto is planning to embark on a sailing journey from Greece to the Gulf of Panama, with a planned stop in the adjacent waters of the Gulf of Panama. It aims to become a hub for cryptocurrency industry companies, entrepreneurs, and Bitcoin nomads, with all economic activities on board being payable with Bitcoin.

According to the official website of the cruise ship owner Ocean Builders, the cruise ship will feature restaurants, casinos, bars, cafes, swimming pools, water parks, and medical facilities. A total of 777 cabins will be available for sale, with the first round of auctions for 100 cabins starting from November 5 to 28.

The cabins are priced between $25,000 and $50,000 and payments are accepted in US dollars and Bitcoin. It is expected to accommodate over 2,000 passengers, and buyers will have indefinite ownership of their cabins, with monthly operational fees required. The cruise ship is set to sail in January 2021.

Formerly known as "Pacific Dawn," the "Satoshi" was built in 1991. Due to the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the travel industry, the original owner, P&O Carnival Corporation, decided to sell and transfer ownership to Ocean Builders.

In Honor of Satoshi

American Bitcoin entrepreneur Chad Elwartowski is the main investor in the project and also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Ocean Builders. He and his Thai partner, Thepdet, have a long history of living at sea, residing in floating houses 20 kilometers off the coast of Phuket, Thailand.

They later attracted the attention of the Seasteading Institute, an organization with a visionary mission to "establish permanent and autonomous ocean communities to experiment and innovate with different social, political, and legal systems."

At that time, Elwartowski and Thepdet clearly expressed their preference for a nomadic lifestyle and invited friends to join them. However, this move almost led to a deadly situation. In April 2019, the Thai Navy accused the couple of violating national sovereignty and towed their house to shore. Although the couple managed to evade the military pursuit, Thai prosecutors claimed that they could face the death penalty.

Despite the challenges they faced, Elwartowski remains enthusiastic about ocean life and Bitcoin. He stated:

We look forward to establishing a new innovation and technology incubation center in Panama, with the goal of living sustainably at sea, where cryptocurrency companies can test their technology in a controlled environment. In addition to the permanent purchase of cabins, we will also offer short-term vacation rental services.
