International tech company IBM has seen a 300% growth in blockchain-related patents in just one year. With its presence in various industries, the tech giant is heavily investing in blockchain technology.

IBM has continued to grow in the blockchain field this year, far surpassing other blockchain startups. As of now, IBM holds approximately 108 active patents, much higher than Bank of America's 52, Mastercard's 43, and Intel's 35. Blockchain enthusiast Yuval alevi compiled the data on his Twitter.

According to a report, the company has been driving the development of World Wire through its IBM Blockchain division, which is a cross-border payment project that could potentially compete with SWIFT. SWIFT currently handles most cross-border payment channels, but SWIFT transfers may take up to three days, while World Wire could potentially complete transactions within minutes.

In addition, IBM has multiple blockchain-related projects, including the well-known IBM Food Trust, TradeLens, and IBM Blockchain Trusted Identity. As a result, there is a high demand for talent, with a total of 335 blockchain-related job openings as of March this year.
