Introduction to Soulflake
Soulflake is developed by the ConsenSys Innovation Lab and is built on Polygon. The term "Soulflake" is a combination of "Soul" and "Snowflake," where "Soul" represents the soul-binding feature of the NFT greeting cards sent out, and "Snowflake" is the symbol and main theme of this platform.
Soulflake is easy to use, simply connect your wallet and switch to the Polygon network to start designing greeting cards.
In the greeting card design page, users first need to enter the recipient's address, ENS domain, or Lens handle. They can then choose the theme color of the card, write a personalized message, and preview the result on the right side of the screen.
In addition to sending blessings, users can also send a fixed amount of Matic tokens as a gift, making it a practical gesture.
Once everything is confirmed, the card can be sent out. Below is an example of a received greeting card. It is important to note that as the cards are soul-bound NFTs, they cannot be transferred but can be chosen to be destroyed.
In addition to the above features, the development team has also designed a community greeting card wall, where all sent cards will be displayed. If you're unsure about what to write, you can browse through other people's creations for inspiration.
Concept of Soul-Bound Token Application
When ConsenSys was researching how soul-bound tokens could be used in the Web3 community, they believed it should meet the following three criteria:
- Soul-bound tokens should facilitate meaningful interactions between users to promote community development.
- The content of soul-bound tokens should be something that both the sender and recipient are willing to share publicly.
- The content of soul-bound tokens should be something that the recipient can choose to keep permanently or for a long time to commemorate and display, with the option to discard it through a destruction mechanism when necessary.
To meet these criteria, the ConsenSys Innovation Lab developed Soulflake, where the sender and recipient of the greeting cards interact with each other through blessings, publicly display their cards, and have the option to destroy cards they do not wish to showcase.
