Helium founder explains why he mistakenly listed others as partners: had verbal permission

Helium's long-term marketing strategy of listing shared scooter company Lime as a user and partner was rejected by the latter, despite Helium's founder clarifying today on 8/2 that the two had a brief working relationship and had obtained verbal permission beforehand. However, Lime emphasized that they had participated in the test under the condition of "not being mentioned in promotion," leading to conflicting statements from both parties.

Saleforce, Lime Deny Collaboration

Prior reports stated that the Internet of Things blockchain Helium was denied a collaboration by the shared scooter company Lime. Lime stated:

"Apart from initial product testing in 2019, Lime has no relationship with Helium, nor currently. "

Following extensive coverage by tech media outlets Mashable and The Verge, Helium has removed the trademarks of Lime and Saleforce from its official website. Previously, Helium referred to them as "partners" on its website.

Helium: Verbal Permission Granted

Helium founder Amir Haleem clarified on Twitter. He mentioned that many of the companies and brands reported in the media had collaborated with Helium, including months-long trials, prototype designs, and sales engineering:

Many companies, big and small, were involved in Helium's pilot program. We received verbal approvals from them, which is why we promoted and marketed these collaborations. Some of these partner companies thrived, while others did not, and we cannot confirm when these partners stopped using Helium. We have now updated the Helium Foundation's ecosystem page to only list active partners who have received written approval.

Amir Haleem's statement contradicts Lime's. Lime executives mentioned in interviews that during the brief testing period in 2019, the condition for participation was not to mention Lime in promotions, and there were no contracts or payments involved. Since then, there has been no contact with Helium.
