Arbitrum Orbit
The Arbitrum team launched the Layer3 network construction framework, Arbitrum Orbit, last month. This framework allows developers to quickly build blockchain networks on top of existing ecosystems such as Arbitrum One, Arbitrum Nova, and the Arbitrum testnet. It provides the same level of security as the mainnet while reducing costs.
By building on Arbitrum Nova, projects can utilize the AnyTrust technology to store data availability off-chain, reducing even more recording costs. This is suitable for products with lower security requirements, such as games and social applications.
Projects currently using Arbitrum Orbit for Layer3 construction include Xai, Hook, and Syndr.
Xai Gaming Blockchain
Building a Gaming Environment with Arbitrum Orbit
Xai is an L3 blockchain designed for Web3 games. It is built on Arbitrum Orbit on top of Arbitrum Nova, storing data availability on the Data Availability Committee to reduce the cost of recording game information and enhance the user experience of Web3 games.
Xai has already launched its testnet and is expected to go live in January next year, pending the development progress of Arbitrum Orbit.
KYC Requirement for Xai Nodes
The consensus mechanism of the Xai network relies on Sentry nodes for security maintenance. Anyone can become a Xai node by downloading the client, with the minimum hardware requirement being a home computer. However, to receive node rewards in esXai tokens that can be exchanged for the native token XAI in the future, one must purchase a Sentry key authorization from the team and pass KYC. This key, in the form of an NFT, cannot be transferred to other wallets and serves as proof of a qualified node on Arbitrum One. The total number of keys will not exceed 50,000, and the team plans to sell them all within two to three years.
Xai Token Airdrop
The Xai team hinted on Twitter that an airdrop event will take place soon, although the exact timing has not been announced yet.
The token distribution plan for XAI has been disclosed. Out of the total 25 billion Xai tokens, half will be allocated to nodes and the Data Availability Committee, while the team and investors will receive 42.4%, and the ecosystem fund will have 7.5%. Unlike other projects, Xai allocates the majority of tokens to nodes rather than users.
The token allocation for the team and investors will begin unlocking six months after token issuance.
Xai is the Flagship Product of Arbitrum Orbit
Xai is expected to be the first project to showcase the core features and advantages of Arbitrum Orbit. Therefore, it has received technical support from the Offchain Labs team, making Xai an important experimental project for Arbitrum Orbit in both the market and technical aspects.
However, Xai still faces significant challenges. The competition in Layer2 and modular markets has been increasing this year, and the gaming sector competition is also fierce. The Xai network, which is still under development, needs to accelerate its progress.
