Users of the Brave browser will soon be able to tip using their Basic Attention Token (BAT) on social media platform Reddit and video platform Vimeo.

Brave was founded in January 2016 by Brendan Eich, co-founder of Mozilla Firefox and creator of JavaScript. The browser blocks website trackers, removes intrusive internet ads, and shares less data with advertisers to improve online privacy. Its BAT token was launched in June 2017.

While Brave has not officially announced the rollout of this feature, Reddit users have discovered a "Tip" icon appearing on posts on both Vimeo and Reddit platforms in the desktop developer version, sparking discussions.

In a post, a moderator from Brave confirmed that the company is working to add tipping options for these two platforms, stating:

Our devs are working on it in a preview version, expected to enter BETA testing in a 3-week dev cycle and go live as soon as possible.

According to a report, the tipping feature is being tested on the developer version of the Brave browser. Developers mentioned that these features are being developed in preview mode and will be tested in the beta version of the tipping app Tippin.me before being released on the mainnet.

Brave's founder Brendan Eich conducted a poll on Twitter on June 28, asking users about their willingness to support tipping features on various content creation platforms. Among approximately one thousand votes, open-source platform GitHub received 41% of the votes.

Brave browser offers users privacy-centric features and allows users to earn BAT tokens while browsing ads. With the cryptocurrency market back in the spotlight, the browser's downloads surpassed 20 million in March this year.
