PewDiePie, a popular YouTuber with over a hundred million subscribers, is shifting to the Tron-based decentralized platform DLive.

PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg and has 100 million subscribers on the YouTube platform, recently announced that he will no longer be posting any new videos on YouTube and will instead be moving to DLive, which is based on the TRON ecosystem, to operate his live streaming business.

DLive was launched in September 2018 and has since gained a large user base. According to data from Similarweb, the platform now has over 3.5 million monthly visits, and its collaboration with PewDiePie has significantly boosted its rapid growth.

ABM previously reported that DLive, a live streaming platform built on blockchain technology, migrated to the Tron blockchain in December last year and merged with BitTorrent Live (BLive), a smaller live streaming platform on Tron.

Tron founder Justin Sun also promoted this news on Twitter, releasing a video of PewDiePie explaining why he left YouTube and chose DLive. PewDiePie mentioned:

BitTorrent, powered by Tron (TRX), is the world's largest decentralized peer-to-peer file-sharing network with over 100 million users.

Now is a great time to join DLive. DLive's mission is to not take any income from creators; they always strongly support creators. It's great to see it continue to grow. DLive rewards fans for interacting with creators, something that other platforms don't do.

In fact, PewDiePie has been operating on DLive for a while, accumulating 760,000 subscribers. He first live streamed on the platform on April 11 last year and has been urging fans to join DLive recently.

According to DApp data monitoring platform DAppTotal, Tron DApps have surpassed its competitor EOS in terms of quantity and active users.

Although Ethereum still outperforms Tron in various data metrics, CEO Justin Sun remains optimistic:

The overall Tron ecosystem is steadily growing, and we welcome more users and developers to join us.
