In the blockchain community, Decentraland is considered a veteran project. It completed the public issuance of its token MANA in August 2017, raising $24 million worth of ETH in just 35 seconds. After experiencing the ups and downs of the market, MANA's performance has been relatively good. With an initial fundraising price of $0.024, it is currently priced at $0.055. Compared to the many tokens that have plummeted by over 90%, Decentraland's performance is quite commendable.

Putting aside the token price, Decentraland is considered a pioneer in the blockchain gaming space. With a narrative that combines "blockchain" and "VR" to empower a "Second Life" experience, Decentraland caught a lot of attention and praise from 2017 to 2018, especially with the hype around the movie "Ready Player One" that brought VR concepts to the forefront.

In simple terms, Decentraland is a decentralized virtual reality platform based on the Ethereum blockchain. On the Decentraland platform, users can create their own unique content and applications, not only experiencing them firsthand but also monetizing them. The core asset in Decentraland is the limited, traversable 3D virtual space called LAND, which is an NFT asset maintained by Ethereum smart contracts. LAND owners, also known as landowners, have full control over the content environments and applications they create, ranging from static 3D scenes to more interactive applications or games. Land can further form themed communities, also known as districts, creating a variety of interest groups and shared spaces with diverse uses.

In the first auction at the end of 2017, a total of 34,356 LAND parcels were auctioned, valued at 161 million MANA, approximately $30 million at the time! By the end of 2018, the second auction sold the remaining 9,331 parcels, totaling 109 million MANA, equivalent to $6.6 million at the time.

After over two years of development, Decentraland finally opened to the public on February 20, allowing players to log in and create avatars to explore and play within the Decentraland game world.

To celebrate the official launch, the platform held a four-day Treasure Hunt event with prizes totaling $100,000, including NFTs, tokens, and in-game virtual items:

• 596,000 ANJ tokens
• 144,900 MATIC tokens
• 25 LAND parcels
• 5,011 Mysterious Cats
• 30 Axies
• 1 HTC EXodus1 encrypted phone (physical!)
• Thousands of in-game clothing items

Players who bound their wallets and found the treasure chests could claim the prizes! After half a day of searching, Decentraland participants have already earned hundreds of MANA tokens and several clothing items while experiencing the cultural, sports, entertainment, and nightlife aspects of the virtual world, balancing between spiritual and material pursuits.
Now, let's take a look at a day in Decentraland (referred to as DCL) and the experience of making profits.

The preparation was straightforward. Opening an Ethereum browser wallet, adding some Ethereum for GasFee, and having a trash bag ready (because I get dizzy in 3D). Entering https://play.decentraland.org/ to customize my avatar, the avatar creation in DCL is quite fascinating. After customization, I needed a name, which required 100 MANA, but as I was here to explore, I chose to enter as a Guest.

Following the tutorial, I entered the game through a portal. I was born in Genesis Plaza, where I was greeted by a strong Chinese theme with bridges, temples, giant Buddha statues, and even a lush bamboo forest. The surroundings were serene, and I spent about ten minutes walking around, enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Shortly after leaving the "Peach Blossom Spring," I stumbled upon a scene called "Merlin's Keep," exuding a strong magical atmosphere. As I explored, I discovered a hidden red dragon among the mountains, guarding a shiny treasure chest beneath its feet!

With a leap of faith, I confidently approached the dragon's wings, expecting a boss battle, but to my surprise, the game lacked health bars and equipment slots – there was no boss to fight. I casually opened the treasure chest and found a hat and a spotted Mysterious Cat.

This turned out to be the Treasure Hunt, essentially exploring the world while searching for treasure chests.

Due to the vast world, shortcuts were essential. By pressing the enter key to access the chat box and typing /help, I could see some common commands. A shortcut to teleport was using the /goto coordinates command.

As a football fan, I couldn't miss the Moonshot Stadium soccer field (60, 10). Entering the command: /goto 60,10

I entered the soccer field as a forward player and referee, dribbled past the goalkeeper, leaving him in awe, and effortlessly scored.

The fans cheered for me, and I smiled at them, then gracefully left the field, spotting a treasure chest in the middle of the pitch, claiming 10 MANA and an NFT prize from inside.

Feeling victorious, I decided to relax at the museum area (14, 76). The galleries showcased a variety of artworks – portraits, landscapes, stills, and more, from artists worldwide. Some works even displayed the artists' Instagram accounts and bios for further exploration.

I promptly followed the Instagram account of a tall, leggy lady featured in the artworks.

Aside from the art pieces, I also admired some beautifully crafted models.

Decentraland seems to support creativity quite well.

After touring the museum and enriching my knowledge, I needed a place to unwind. The maze surrounded by plants (113, -5) provided a refreshing oxygen-rich environment. I confidently declared a five-minute completion but ended up lost in the maze for half an hour. Climbing a nearby mountain to overlook the maze, I spotted a treasure chest at the maze's center! My IQ soared to 150 as I memorized the maze layout.

Relying on my remarkable memory, I navigated to the maze's center, claiming the hidden prizes.

Exhausted from the day's adventures, I sought a place to rest. I heard that the deep sanctuary of Peach Blossom Spring (59, -66) was a great resort. The peach blossoms harmonized with human faces, creating a serene atmosphere. As I was about to sit under a tree, a treasure chest suddenly appeared nearby. Reluctantly, I took the prizes and exclaimed, "This money disturbing my rest!" – thus concluding today's journey.

After a day of exploration, I accumulated nearly a thousand worth of Decentraland skins and accessories, along with several MANA tokens. While the experience was joyful, there were multiple instances of game page crashes and lagging.

Although the review may seem harsh for a blockchain game, it is crucial to remember that Decentraland raised $24 million and aimed to create a gaming product and ecosystem, not just a blockchain project.
